A Biomedical Engineering Perspective on Visual Scientific Publishing

Biomedical engineering methods often have to travel across disciplines: biology, engineering, materials science, imaging, devices, and data analysis. These methods shape how researchers develop tools for diagnosis, treatment, and modeling of diseases.

Methods in complex fields are difficult to transfer through text alone. A reader may understand the protocol, but still need to see the setup, handling, and decision points that affect whether the method works reliably.

In this clip, hear from Dr Mansur Zhussupbekov, PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Cornell University, on the value of video for showing the “critical nuances," especially the steps in a protocol that help prevent experimental artifacts.
